Melissa Rivers - Artist & Teacher
Melissa Rivers is an Alameda-based herbalist, maker, and creative force whose work brings warmth, intention, and life into every space she touches. As the creator of Herbal Apothetique, her practice is rooted in plant-based wellness, accessibility, and care, blending traditional herbal knowledge with a modern, hands-on approach.
At Alameda Gallery & Collective, Melissa’s influence is felt throughout the shop, from the lush plant life to the handmade goods and thoughtful styling that give the space its vibrant, grounded energy. Alongside her creative work, Melissa will be leading a variety of workshops throughout the year, including candle making, aromatherapy, herbal crafting, and plant-based classes, inviting participants to slow down, learn something tactile, and reconnect with the natural world.
Melissa teaches hands-on herbal classes focused on crafting teas, tinctures, oils, room sprays, and natural remedies, empowering people to build confidence in working with plants and natural materials. Her teaching style is welcoming, intuitive, and deeply rooted in care for both people and the environment.
A mother of two and longtime fixture in Alameda’s creative and community-centered circles, Melissa brings a sense of grounding magic, curiosity, and joy to everything she creates, whether she’s tending plants, guiding a workshop, or helping others discover the beauty of working with their hands.
