Bill Jeng
Bill Jeng is a retired civil engineer with a background in art and architecture. He is a self-taught artist and has exhibited in local businesses and galleries. Bill is primarily a painter, working with acrylics on canvas, but also works with watercolors, color pencils, ink and paper, recycled wood, and other construction materials. In his recent work, Bill has tried to minimize his environmental impact by using recycled materials to create his artwork.
The works here are inspired by Thomas Dambo’s Trolls recently exhibited at Filoli Gardens in Woodside. Bill first encountered Dambo’s Trolls during his visit to Bainbridge Island, in Seattle, and was impressed by Dambo’s environmental stewardship and the messages each Troll presented. Bill was so inspired, he added a few trolls of his own in this collection. We have much to learn from the Trolls.
Additionally, his pre-retirement day job as a civil engineer had awakened Bill’s appreciation of Oakland’s built environment. Bill has witnessed and worked on infrastructure elements that the general public would probably not have noticed, and they are the inspiration for these color pencil drawings.
The works shown are archival quality, giclee prints that Bill has individually enhanced with color pencil, ink and signed.
